Recording Loops
Hi All
Does anyone have recommendations for looping hardware? What I'd like to do is record a guitar rhythm and loop it so I can jam to it. It should also have drum tracks built in as well.
I know I can do this with software, but I'd rather be able to do it on the fly.
Thanks!

I have a Boss RC 20 xl that is a dedicated twin pedal looper it has a beat but no drums, I think they have released a RC 10 or something that is a single pedal but does have drums.
The pedal is great and I wish I got one a lot earlier, it can layer the recording so I plug my drum machine and lay a rhythm down and then I jam away.
Digitech have the loopstation as well which is similar and one that I tested, one feature of that is that you can store 1gb of recording compaired to the 16 minutes of the Boss. I went for Boss as it was so simple to use!

The Jam-man is on my Christmas Wish List. I like the idea being able to work it live and I want it more for being able to the percussion on the guitar top grab a shaker egg or tamborine and fatten it up while layering the rhythm stuff. It's also going to be cool for doing some vocal harmony, sing the melody and loop it and do some high harmony over it while playing. If you haven't watched any of the KT Turnstall vids of You tube check them out. She does some amazing stuff with it.

I've got the jam-man. It has a few canned backing tracks, but it would be an easy matter of pre-recording the drum loops that you want. There's 99 slots you can record into and with a 1Gig memory card you've got pretty well as much time as you want.
The only drawback I've found with it is that the foot pedal switch is pretty hard to press. I record my acoustic with a mic and every time I push the foot pedal, I catch the click through the mic. If you're using a pickup, that shouldn't be a problem.
It's lots of fun.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
