  New Guitar Feed Back

Hi all,

Just signed up as a new member. I would like to buy a new electric hollow-body. I am thinking towards an Epiphone or Ibanez, because I cannot afford a Gibson or Gretsch.

Any one with positive or negative feedback with either of these those 2 brands would be appreciated.

I already have 2 acoustics-one is an Art & Lutherie , which is an entry level guitar, but sounds pretty good. The 2nd is a Big Baby Taylor, and the more I play it the more I love it. My one electric that I have is a Squier Stat. It's okay, but no great shakes. I had to have the first one replaced because the neck was warped. Fortunately it was still under warranty. I now seem to have a lot of fret noise/buss and I am loathe to spend more money on getting it re-set when I am not so enamoured with the guitar.

P.S. My wife has 2 acoustics as well-1 is a Simon & Patrick and the 2nd one is a Yamaha L Series.

Epis' and Ibanez are pretty much the same in terms of price and quality. Both make decent hollow bodies. I have an Epi alleykat semi hollow which is a great player. I love the tone and the workmanship is flawless though it can be a little hit and miss in that price range. Play both if you can to get a feel for them.

Epiphone is part of Gibson. The Guitars with the ephiphone label just don't have as high of quality parts and manufacturing processes as guitars carrying the Gibson label.

Ibanez, I have had personal experience with and they do put out some real nice guitars.

Guitar: 1) Behringer Stratocaster; Webstrings Memphis Electric Xlight strings; Dunlop Picks

2) Ibanez TCY-10 Talman Series; Elixir Light strings.

Both of those companies make some good qaulity hollowbodies. I think I would personally go with epiphone for a hollowbody. They just have a cool vibe to them.
