What's hot?

Looking to get some opinions on good gear.

I had a Ibanez RG550 and a Marshall 2550 Silver anniversary, combo which I really liked before. I would like to get something comparable, but it's been over 10 years since I last looked at an electric guitar. I'm sure things have changed since then.

Here are a few things I want...

22 fret minimum, 24 preferred
Good tremolo. I had a floyd rose before and loved it.
Good quality/value.
Affordable
The sound I'm looking for is Metallica. I will be getting back into my old band from 10 years ago and we will be a Metallica cover band like the old days. I also don't want to break the bank. For an amp, I'm thinking about a 50 watt Marshall or Fender, unless there is something with more bang for your buck out there.

Open to all suggestions.

Thanks.

Eric

If you had an Ibanez RG and loved it, you could find more Ibanez RG's. They still make them and they're apprantly still very good.

As far as Amps, Mesa Boogies seem to be nice amps.

Guitar: 1) Behringer Stratocaster; Webstrings Memphis Electric Xlight strings; Dunlop Picks

2) Ibanez TCY-10 Talman Series; Elixir Light strings.

If you gave me your price range, I could help you better... but how's this for an amp: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/482615/

and this for a guitar: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/516639/

and don't forget about effects! you'll probably need a distortion pedal, and a wah pedal, and I don't know what else.

if the amp isn't really what you were looking for, then look around at other things. but what guitar would be better for replicating metallica sounds then a kirk hammett signature guitar? (it has your 24 frets and a floyd rose)

Life is like a box of chocolates, it\'s good but it ends quick, especially if you\'re fat! :)
