  teak?

I may be able to get a chunk of teak big enough for a fretboard. Can teak be used for that or is there something I don't know. I have never heard of teak being used in any way with guitars, I wonder why?

Hey allthumbs,

Nope, never heard of teak being used on a guitar. There may be a whole host of reasons why...bad sound to bad structure. Or maybe nobody has ever tried. Only one way to find out. Keep us posted.

After reading some posts about tone woods, I think treak would be too dense to have good tone. It seems that the kind of wood you would use to make heavy furniture makes lousey fretboards because of the heavy density.

Fair enough...but it would look really cool as a "fretboard" on a lap steel. Something to think about if you're building your own...

O.K.--play it again for me...slooowly....

I don't see why you couldn't use it on a lap steel ...
