Electro/accoustic 12 string.
I.m in the market for a Electro/accoustic 12 string. My budget is about £200 give or take a few quid, I know the budget is'nt a lot, but I have sent nearly £2000 over the past 18 months on new gear, so I dont want frighten my wife with more high priced gear. Any suggestions would be grateful.
Also I know I may seem dumb! but how do you tune a 12 string?
Now when I talk to God he said he'd understand, Stick by me I'll be your guiding hand. But don't ask me what I think of you. I might not give the answer you want me to.

Hi Doug, I've heard good things about Yamaha APX e/a guitars one of which is the APX5-12A which, if you shopped about, you could probably get for close to £200. Happy shopping.

I'd suggest looking for a used guitar. 12 strings are generally pretty easy to find in the used market, and by buying used you'll be able to get a better guitar at your price point.
Go to your favorite online seller and browse the £300 guitars to get an idea of what might be available, then go find one used for £200.
And I strongly urge you to play them before buying, whether used or new. With 12 strings, it is essential the guitar be set up properly and the neck in good condition, or it will be very difficult to play (and thus so many used 12s in the market!) And make sure the bridge is not lifting up, as the additional string tension can sometimes cause problems especially with older guitars.
I can highly recommend the Alvarez jumbo 12, but the thick neck is not for everyone. Yamaha's FG 12-string is nice, as are models by Takamine.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. My brothers got a Yamaha 12, so he's going to lend it to me for as long as I want, I'll see how I get on with that.

As suggested above the Yamaha APX series are good value for money ( I use an APX 5A and I am very happy with it). I`ve never tried the 12 string version though. Maybe a bit over the 200 mark too.
A few sweet love songs sung for your wife might get you a slightly more relaxed budgethttp://www.guitarforbeginners.com/forum/images/smilies/wink1.gif
BTW a 12 string is tuned EADGbe - bottom 4 pairs with the thinner string an octave above the thick one. Top two pairs are tuned so that each string in the pair sounds the same note.
Some players tune a tone down (DGCFad) and capo up at the second fret to ease the tension a bit.
