If its the semi-hollowbody and you want it to collect...eh...a hundred dollars won't kill ya then go for it...but if it one of those newer "Sam's Club" specials...lol you'd better make sure he throws in the amp as well!

The reviews seem to indicat a low quality guitar. A made in China product, The price seems right though. You would need to file the fret ends, upgrade the pickups and have a good set up. You would probably have to change out the electronics after a while also. You would be better off with a squire51. It will cost a bit more but, is much higher quality and they are very playable stock.

A cyber friend asked on another forum about the worth of a 335 1964 Gibson she dug out of her closet. I had belonged to a relative. We told her to have it appraised. Minimum is likely to be 10,000. If she gets lucky and it has the right pickups in it, the pick ups alone could be worth 10,000. It is still possible to find things like this.
An elderly lady was talking in a store about her late husbands guitar. She was thinking of selling it. I told her to have it professionally appraised. She was describing a 1959 Les Paul.Wow. Major bucks.
