Whammy Bar?

Ive had my strat for a while and just got a whammy bar for it.
I'm finding that it doesnt really pitch up very well at all
pitching down is no problem

Its a fender copy so it basically has the fender whammy system

Ive seen specs of the floyd rose and saw that it has more flexibility bending both ways

Im just wondering if im doing something wrong or put the bar on wrong??

If you like your guitar to stay in tune, you'll likely take off the whammy bar after about a week and block the tremolo.

as Cshude said... I use my efx board for tremolo... ive got a strat copy... and had a play with the whammy bar, but got sick of retuning every time i used it....

The action on my strat, doesnt seam to allow me to bend UP with the whammy only down, not to say there couldnt be something wrong with my "student" package strat copy, but i dont know, perhaps somebody has a better idea than me. I never use the damn thing anyway, its sitting here on my bench under a mound of paperwork somewhere.. which i really should get round to doing one day

Strats are usually fitted with whammy bars that can only be bent down - so dont worry it isnt something wrong with your guitar

if you loosen the tremolo springs a bit, to allow the bridge to tip a bit forward under the normal string tension, you will get a little more room to bend up, but a little less room to bend down.

I have a strat and I use the tremolo on it and have no problems with it, however I only bend down, and it sits flush on the guitar when I am not touching the bar.
Modern strats are ok to good, depending on the bridge. On older ones and copies I wouldn't touch the whammy
