My AMP just blew on me!!!!!!!!

Hi all

My AMP just blew in style and well I am now stuck! It went bang thats about all I can say, I have changed the power supply and fuse and still no joy.

So I need to get a new one, the one I have is only a cheap fender 15G so what do I get now?

In the local shop they have a nice looking Line 6 spider 2 30 or a Vox AD30VT, both look ok and sounded great incidently with a Variax they let me play with I just do not know which one to go for. As for price they are about the same with the Vox just slightly more expensive.

Has anyone used either before?

I tried the VOX AD15VT pretty much the same model just less watts. Anyways I played it through some Ibanez guitar HSH pickup conifig. The distortion sounded really nice. You can get many different sound since there are so many effects. Auto wah...phaser....tweed...etc..UK70s...80s..etc..Whe n i finished playing with distortion i turned it to the clean channel. It was weak...when the bass was turned up the 6th string just goes fuzzy and the 1st string is muted. The clean channel is bearable but I dont know if it was the guitar or amp. I was also considering buying a VOX AD50VT.

PS : The vox is a hybrid although for some reason those tubes dont really give warmth or a nice full bodied sound

I am back and I have just had a geat 4 hours solid playing with my new amp. I got the:

ROLAND CUBE 30

What a great sounding AMP, the tone is like nothing I have ever herd me play before. I tried all the AMPs on clean and the Roland was amazing. It is the first time ever I have played with clean as I normally hate the sound that I make but this was just just great. The 8 modeled AMPs are sooo good so I do not now have to spend an hour setting up my effects pedal to get a sound good enough to jam along with a song. As Warren C said the VOX on clean was dissapointing and the Line 6 was good but only good compaired to the Roland.

I am amazed at the difference a good amp makes, I really did think that my effects pedal was enough to get a sound I wanted so boy was I wrong. Anyway I have learnt a few valuble lessons in the past couple of days about amps so I will never take them for granted again.

I had a look at the micro cube as well and nearly made do with that it would come in handy for my road trips in the camper van but I seen a Marshall Mini Stack that looked soo cool. Anyway it will be time to take the axe back to shop to have a play off with these two and to carry them around before I go on summer holiday next month.
