Question about little string noises from amp

Hi guys,

Just bought a Epiphone Les Paul Standard and a VOX DA15 amplifier. I'm very happy with it. Only, I hear some little noises through the amplifier when I fret the strings. Is this normal or has it something to do with my technique, cause I'm only starting with electric guitar? (already play acoustic and classic guitar for almost a year). Thanks!

well, if its a large amp on fairly loud, you might be able to hear it when you push down on frets...

It's not a big amp. To be more precise, it's a solid state modelling amp and usually the master volume doesn't go further than 25% of the full potential. But what you're sayin' 8LU3 is that it's a normal sound and that it is ok?

well i think i know what youre talking about, and if so, yes thats normal. after awhile of playing electric you will either get used to it, or mute the strings when you fret, thats what ive learned to do. takes some practice to remember every time

I would suspect it is your technique with the master at just 25%. Play with the way you finger notes and see if it effects the unwanted sounds. If your amp is other wise quiet except when you fret then it is most likely that. Epi lps are decent axes so it is unlikely that the frets themselves are flawed enough to be causing it.
