Hey guys and gals,
I've fiddled around with guitars for 18 years now and don't really know how to play. I've decided I'm going to learn to play but don't really know anything about the workings of guitars and need some advice.
I've got a Yamaha acoustic that is at least 20 years old, but works just fine. I've also got your basic generic Chinese Stratocaster copy that is probably at least 30 years old with electronics that don't work and quite a bit of corrosion on the screws and so forth. I am mechanically inclined and have put new strings on the electric guitar to practice. Now I'm looking to get a new electric guitar.
I want to get a Les Paul style guitar but don't want to spend a lot of money since it's going to be for my own enjoyment and not for any sort of performance. I've read a lot of opinions and I'm leaning toward the SX or Agile guitars from
Rondo Music.
I was originally looking at these three models due to price:
SX GG1 SII BO
SX GG1 STD Short Scale
SX GG1 JR
Is the SII BO too cheap and to be avoided?
Are there any limitations with the Short Scale that I'm going to regret?
What is the advantage of having P90 pickups in the GG1 JR?
Is the set neck in the GG1 JR really that much better than a bolt on neck?
Lately I've been thinking of just spending a little more and going with one of these:
SX GG1 STD Set Neck Mahogany
Agile AL-2000 Black Flame (or natural)
I prefer the look of the SX GG1 STD Set Neck over the Agile AL-2000. Is the Agile really going to give me better performance and sound considering I'm just going to use it for my own enjoyment?
Thanks in advance,
Jim
