Oops! Ebay madness strikes again.

In a moment of madness I was the highest bidder on a 'used only once in original box etc' DigitechVX400. I'm fairly sure I'm pleased!

I got it for much less than half the price of a new one over here. I thought it would go for a lot more, but my last few seconds bid won the day. I really didn't think I would get it. The good news (hey, I'm looking for excuses here) is that there is no way I will need anything else in the Recording add-ons dept for at least 10 years (this may be a rationalisation).

Oh well, too late now

Thanks Eddie, I'm not even certain if it's the best item for what I want, or even if I need anything at all yet, but it'll be fun finding out. I'm a sucker for a bargain

You know Carol, for a second or two I thought you were looking for some sort of approval from the forum for your sudden rush of blood. Then I realised you're just plain excited about getting another toy.
Congratulations, hope you get hours of pleasure from it.

If our guitars had as many strings as harps, would we change them as often?

Spot on karcey. I think I'm still in shock. I had checked it out during the week when I saw it sitting there at 99cents and no bid. Then I thought it was way beyond what I need (I don't really think I need anything) and thought it would go for a ridiculous amount of money and therefore just an item I would keep an eye on. And then to my surprise I was the highest bidder. It'll take me an hour or two to re-adjust! I am definitely pleased, even though it's a terrible indulgence! I think I need a cuppa and a good lie-down!

Well done on winning the auction Carol, sounds like you got that at a good price, no problem having too much gear, you can pick and choose what you want to use and get the set up that works for you, and you can always sell stuff on if you don't use it any more then you have some cash to upgrade when you want to it's a win win situation in my opinion.

All the Best

Chris

My arguments exactly Chris! I never dreamed I would actually get it and its so much more than I was thinking of maybe getting, I don't think I'll need an upgrade - ever. Woo-hoo!

Carol, I looked at the manual and the ProTracks software works with the unit to allow you to use the footswitches to control recording. Cool feature. I had the Vocal 300 a while back (traded my rarely used exercise equipment for it). It was a lot of fun, but it didn't have the USB capabilities.

You should have a lot of fun with this. Especially if you like to make weird noises with your voice.

Ha ha fly - very amusing! The whole idea is to avoid making weird noises with my voice, although it's the guitar modelling features I had in mind. This one has a USB connection. I don't really have a clue yet what it does. It'll be interesting (!) to see what I can come up with.

BTW this afternoon I put a $1 bid on a Line6 Pod 2.0 and if I win that one, I will be surprised

The Pod is a cool unit. And the Line 6 software for configuring settings is top notch stuff. I had a PodXT a while back, and have an Pod X3 Live now. My first FX unit was a Line 6 GuitarPort, and I liked it as well.

The USB on the VX400 doubles as a audio link for recording and MIDI control interface.

Thanks for that fly - I have a lot to learn. I'll download the manual tomorrow and check out what it is I've actually bought.

Congrats on the score, Carol - looks like it could be a very cool unit to play with.

....but I'm shocked that you haven't yet learned that GAS is an affliction for which there is no cure.

Carol,
Welcome to the world of guitar players and something we call GAS. (Gear Aquisition Syndrome)
We are a crazy lot. Always looking for new gear and gadgets to make us sound better.....then when we get it.........we sell it or trade it in for more NEW Improved stuff which may or may not stay around awhile
But I must say...its fun
Enjoy your new toy!!
