So, I have no idea what kind of guitar to get. I was kinda thinking ofa Jazz guitar. Or A Rock Guitar. So, Are ther any guitars under $200 or $200 that aren't Beginner? Because I would like to take on a type now. Thanks for your help.

Jazz guitars are by their nature more expensive. They are a more complex instrument to make. 200 dollars can get you a reasonable beginners guitar if you do your homework well. There is an awfull lot of two hundred dollar firewood out there so take your time and ask for advice here.

A used Schecter Gryphon can be had for that price.
It is a very versatile guitar.

There are many models of Squier Affinity and Standard series guitars in that price range. They are very decent guitars and will take you well beyond the beginner stage. Avoid the "starter pack" guitars and the "Bullet" series (I don't know if Squier even makes those anymore) and you'll be fine.

Bad choice.
Lowest end guitars they make, and a horrible, horrible amp.
You would be much better off getting a guitar now and an adapter to hook it into your computer's line-in port. Then saving for a microcube amp.

Links? Go to Musician's Friend or Guitar Center, go into their guitar section and choose "Squier" from the manufacturers' list. (Or if you want to look at their entire guitar selection from all manufacturers, just go to the guitar page and sort the results from low to high prices - there's almost always a button that allows you to do that). Look through the models to get an idea of what you want that's within your budget. Then (if at all possible), go to a local music store and play them for yourself before you choose.

I think that may be very good idea. I think my Price Range would have to be atleast $250? Also, I should'nt get a package right? And get everything for themself? I'll check it out. Because I have this guitar at the moment, I've had it since June 2007, So I think I should get a new one. The Guitar I Have:
Dean Playmate JT 3/4 Size Acoustic Guitar and more Travel and Mini Acoustic Guitars at GuitarCenter.com.
I've got the black one, and I thought it would be a good guitar to decide if I woud like to continue. Now that I do want to have guitar as one of my main hobbies I think it would be time for a new guitar, But I also do not know if I should get an acoustic-electric? or a normal acoustic? Now that I really think about it an Acoustic-Electric would be nice , but is it good? Or should I stick with a normal acousitic or a normal electric? I heard of the Ovation Acoustic-Electrics? Are they good? Thanks for everyones help.

The Obey Strat should be fine, there are better guitars out there for that money, but it will do the job you're looking for.
As for the cable:
Go to radioshack and buy the following:
1/4" Female to 1/8" male stereo adapter.
And any old instrument cable will be fine.
Plug the adapter onto the end of the cable, and plug that into your line in/mic on your pc.

I don't know anything about the "Obey" Strat except that I'm not crazy about the graphics - but that's just me. You'd probably do just as well with any of the Squier Standard Strats. If you want a humbucker pickup at the bridge, look at the Squier Standard "Fat Strat"....about 50 bucks cheaper, and all it's missing are the "fancy" graphics.
That adapter plug you linked to is not for connecting your guitar to the computer - it's a daisy-chain cord for a 1Spot power adaptor, used to power multiple effects pedals off of one power source. It will do you absolutely no good as far as connecting your guitar to the computer. All you need is a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter like eXperiment said.

Douglas WR-340 Floyd TBR at HomeOld
That guitar would likely suit your needs, and it is $100 cheaper. My only suggestion is that if you do buy that guitar, BLOCK THE TREMOLO! Licensed Floyd's are notoriously bad at staying in tune.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
