Firebox

I was wondering if anyone here has "Firebox"? I just got the new computer hooked up and Firebox, but I'm unsure where to plug everything in. The explanation of the controls start on page 16 of the manualhttp://www.presonus.com/media/manual...xManual1.0.pdf

It looks like the guitar is supposed to be plugged in next to the mic? I would need an adapator then? Also, I'm not sure about the inputs and outputs in the back. I thought the guitar would go in one of the line-in? Looks like there are only 2 line-in's. I thought there were 4.

Anyway, all I have to plug in is the mic and the guitar for now. Can I run the guitar through my amp? Or did I just plug the guitar straight in Firebox?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  Update - No Sound

I went to the local music store and embarrassed myself. The guitar chord actually does fit in that funny looking jack that also houses the microphone next door to it. So, that is fixed. He said I wouldn't hear anything from Firebox until I actually record? He said I would have to plug my amp in to hear what is happening? How do I set that up? I have "line in" and "line outputs" on Firebox and "input" and "phones" on the amp. I am guessing that I would go with the output on fire fox to phones on the amp? But I know nothing. The other problem is that I have no sound whatsoever on the computer. I don't know what to do. I just got the new computer hooked up today. When I click on the speaker icon, I now get "Mixer". I'm not sure if that is a part of Vista, or if Firebox takes over everything for sound?

If anyone can help, I would be most grateful. I'm feeling kinda dumb about all this. I'm still struggling with the basics.

Thanks.

  Adding to the Mystery

I just opened a file in Band in a Box. It was a file I had "recorded" the instrumental and recorded the voice. All of a sudden, my voice that had been recorded came out loud and clear. Nothing else though (i.e. the background instrumental).

I read it may be a conflict with Vista and Firebox.

Still hoping.

  Fixed

I found a download from the PreSonus website for xp and Vista, so I did that and it worked. I think I have Band In A Box working too. Now to learn how to record with Firebox and the new software!

Thanks.

Congrats! I've heard good things about the Firepod (which is the 8 channel version of the Firebox).

Enjoy!

Thanks Tekker. I really appreciate the response cause I was pretty frustrated last night.

Now it's on to learning how to record and mix. I was reading your lessons last night. They are great. Any way you can transfer some of your skills over to me?

Thanks again.
