cutaway or not?

Looking at buying new electro acoustic. Any advice on whether to buy a cutaway style or not. Have heard that there is sound compromise but is this significant or not.
Have been playing for under a year but wanting to upgrade to something I can use happily for number of years so looking at something that will still suit as my playing progresses.
Looking forward to everyones usual helpful and enthusiastic feedback.
Keep on making music. Thanks.

The cutaway only comes into play when your playing way up the neck. That is usually many years if ever that you would utilize that. I guess it depends on the kind of stuff you want to play.

Like AT says, it depends on what style of music you play. You could always go with this type of accoustic/electric. Parker Guitars

I got one a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It has an accoustic setting, electric and a hybrid. I had accoutic (6 and 12 string) and classical guitars for over 30 years(and still have them), so this was a big jump for me. Best thing I ever did.

I'm not sure what your price range is, but they run about $700 Canadian.

Try out every guitar that you can. It makes a big difference. I spent hours in the store before I bought the Parker.

Good luck.

Thanks for your replies. Think I'll probably stick to non cutaway. Don't tend to play way up there on my acoustic anyway and think the original shape of an acoustic guitar is far more aestheticly pleasing.
Probably not the best way to decide, but I think the look and feel of the guitar come a close second to the sound.
Thanks again.
