Now that I have chosen my electric guitar I am going to buy an amp I was thinking about this one to go with my electric and my acoustic electric.

Just my opinion - I'm not much of a fan of the solid-state Fender amps. For almost the same price I'd much rather go with the Roland Cube 20X - much more versatile, better sounding, on-board FX to experiment with, and it even has a dedicated "acoustic" setting that doesn't sound half-bad with an acoustic-electric guitar.

I had a 25R which sounded great with a Sqier 51, but regrettably sold both to get my Martin acoustic. I now have A Roland 20X cube and a Fender Fat Strat. Another very nice combination I am happy with. The 25 R's reverb was sweet, and I really liked the clean channel on that amp. The Roland to me sounds best clean, or the tube setting. Chorus, reverb and delay are my most used effects. 1+ to Fly's foot switch suggestion for th eFender, or the FS-6 SW for the Roland.

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

I know of a few of us on here who have broken frontman amps so they are not bomb proof. Also the the tone is not the best, clean is ok but the distortion is muddy using any of my guitars (LP, Strat, Variax all settings). The reverb is quite poor as well, I would stear clear of one of these.
+1 to the roland I have a cube 30 (great!) and I also have a Vox valvetronix that is also great.

Well you've got some recommendation on modeling amps. So I'll throw in an alternative viewpoint. Get yourself a 5 watt tube amp combo. A good one is the Valve Jr

Buy Epiphone Valve Junior Combo Amp online at Musician's Friend

This is the latest craze in practice amps. Since the Vjr came out everyone else has been getting on the band wagon.

Al little more expensive but it has a gain control which IMO is a big plus....

Buy Peavey Valve King Royal 8 5W 1x8 Tube Combo Amp online at Musician's Friend

The $200 Crate Palomino also has a gain control.

I'm a big fan of going with a 12" speaker. !0's sound boxy and 8's are just too small. The Blackheart combo has a 12" but it's $110 over your Fender price point.

Buy Blackheart BH5-112 5W 1x12 Little Giant Tube Combo Amp at Musician's Friend

The nice thing about these tube amp is that they are generally considered to sound good with pedals in front. They will give you good enough tone that you'll never need to worry about not having a good enough bedroom amp. You can also get the $150 Vjr Combo and later add an external cab, which will greatly improve the sound over the internal 8" speaker.

The all-in-one stuff like the vox or the roland is cool but when you starting adding pedals or wanting to get a multifx floorboard it's the little tube amp that you want to be playing that stuff through.

I'm tending to lean Fly's way, at this point... those 5 watt amps are pretty cool. I'll add one that he didn't mention, both for completeness and in case you especially like the Fender brand name: Buy Fender Champion 600 5W 1x6 Combo Amp online at Musician's Friend

I agree with the above. I have heard few good things said about the Frontman. You can do better.

Good choice, the roland amps are easy to get a good tone but they have enough features to keep you from getting bored with the sound but simple enough so that you dont spend the whole session trying to dial a tone in.

Nice choice, I think you'll really enjoy it. Let us know how you like it after you get it and play with it a bit!
