Color me Tele

Okay, so i saw this telecaster once and I fell in love with it- I think basically because I like the look of telecasters alot. But this one in particular caught my attention.

Buy Fender 1967 Telecaster Firemist Silver Metallic Closet Classic LTD online

Unfortunately enough- they have stopped making this beauty, and weighing in at $3,500, i would have to sell my car (BMW) and/or not go to college to buy it

Would anyone happen to know if there are any Telecasters out there that are in this beautiful finish? Or atleast close to this one? looking for a light/dark/green/grey color (any combination of those adjectives is applicable )

Thanks in advance,
Aubrey

ps. i would post this over on the telecaster forums- but i have not recieved an email for the verification of signing up. Sorry : (

Ooh, that's a toughie... the closest "traditional" tele colour is probably what they call "seafoam green" or the slightly lighter "surf green," naturally popular with surf guitarists.

They did do some in "Sherwood green" for a while, but I don't know that those have existed lately, unless perhaps as a custom shop item. It often looks significantly darker than this particular specimen.

I did see a 1980s, made in Japan Tele one time, which was a sparkle grey green very close to the colour of the one you're admiring, but those are probably very hard to find. Some sort of relative to what Fender now calls "sage green metallic," I suppose.

Fender's current colour chart is here: FenderŪ Color Chart
Not all models come in all colours, but the selection with Teles is fairly good.

Of course, if you're open to a non-Fender, that might open up a lot of possibilities.

Aubrey - there's always the option of buying a Tele body through Warmoth, USACG, etc. and building your own. Once you peek around the Telecaster forum you'll see that it's not as difficult as it may sound, and you can end up with a very nice guitar for a lot less than that '67 Closet Classic! A Tele is a very simple guitar to build. The above companies sell finished bodies, and will custom-paint it to the color you desire (which will cost more, but you'll get exactly what you want.)

Hmm thanks for the advice mates. I have looked at the tele forums just to see what making your own looks like- and i would have to admit that i dont have the tools necessary to even attempt to do it (my dad is a bmw man) so there are basically no wood working tools in my house But- id rather send one off to get it professionally done. I think for the time being I'll just get a pearle white tele (or some other white color) just because it looks so simple. thanks anyways.

Have your dad take it to work and get the boys in the paint shop to put on some Beamer gray.

hahah, well- his car is silver and mine is white with black details... Either a silver/gray or white tele would be pretty cool. i have also been looking at the Baja telecasters.

Fender's "sage green metallic" looks almost totally grey in their pictures, but some pics people have posted of their Fenders in that colour seem much closer to what you wanted...

That colour isn't currently an option for Teles, but was a couple of years ago, so you may be able to find a used one, or a new one that's been gathering dust somewhere.

I think i have found that the Inca Silver color is pretty nice- very classy to me. I believe that inca silver is a rare and discontinued color- much like the sage green metallic ( its a bit more appealing to the eye too )

And here is the ideal tele that i would most likely buy:
2000 Fender USA Telecaster - Nice Inca Silver color - eBay (item 260204061994 end time Jan-23-08 15:52:59 PST)

And Heres the dream tele :1997 FENDER TELECASTER ALL ORIGINAL INCA SILVER RARE - eBay (item 320207861353 end time Jan-22-08 18:00:00 PST)
