guitar project opinion

i am posting this because i would like to get some opinions on this idea. well i have posted here before and i own 2 guitars, a fender starcaster which wasnt the greatest investment and an epiphone les paul custom which was a lovely birthday present from my girlfriend. so now i just play on the les paul, but i got this other guitar doing nothing. now i was wondering if i should possibly make this a project guitar? i have taken it apart considering it isnt a huge investment and i want to paint it and put new pickups in and buy a neck off ebay, like a jackson neck or something. i was thinking of getting this prewired david gilmour set with emgs and a strat pickguard since it is like a strat only with a different neck. is this something worth investing into? i want to cuz hey, who wouldnt? i would appreciate any kind of input on what i should do. thank you in advance

It depends on the underlying quality of the body and the total cost of the upgrades. Sometimes the upgrades cost more than just buying a better guitar. I would look at getting lower cost hardware from Guitar Fetish. Remember that you never get your money back on upgrades when you sell a guitar. You could also consider turning your axe into a slide guitar.

+1 to allthumbs

I just upgraded a very cheap Wesley guitar that I got from ebay into a slide. Whole upgrade cost about €60 and thats new electrics, decent pup's and sheilding.

That is a good point. I wouldn't think that I would be selling it anytime soon but then again, if I need the money, then yeah. It's either that or just upgrade the les paul I have with better pickups but I don't know, lol. I do appreciate the input though.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
