GAS and Karma
They say what goes around comes around. Seems like I've been going around alot with my equipment setup too. A while back I bought a Vox Tonelab table top version and really liked how it lacked a lot of the fizz I had in the amp models of my GT-8. I put my GT-8 up for sale on Craigslist and the guy who sold me my Tonelab came by and bought it.
When he was buying the GT-8 he mentioned that he wished he hadn't sold the Tonelab. Fast forward a month or so and I see he's listing the GT-8 back for sale. It showed up on CL yesterday for $225 so I called him and asked him if he wanted the Tonelab back for the original $125 he sold it to me for and I would give him a $100 and take the GT-8 back. He agreed and the deal is done.
Why you may ask... If not I'm telling ya anyway.
Even though the Tonelab was free of fizz and I thought it sounded really good, it turned out that when I tried to recreate tones, in comparison it sounded muffled and lacked clarity.
As a side thing I'm always playing with different separate pedals trying make a pedal board. Recently I bought a 3 channel tube preamp that has a sparklely bright clean channel and two nice sounding distortion channels. The GT-8 has a great selection of FX and a send/receive loop that I can put the preamp in. It's fully configurable wrt FX ordering so I can put my wah, compressor in front of the loop and my time delay and modulation FX after.
So basically I can replace the fizzy amp modeling in GT-8 with my Hafler preamp and use all the other good stuff in the GT-8 with it. Hope to get a new recording up soon!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
