A friend demos his new vintage amp.

It took two trips to an amp tech to get it up and running. One of the downsides of buying an old amp. Notice how good the tone is through a dry amp with just a touch of verb. I am kind of from that school of thought too. Hands- guitar- amp. Perfect.
He demos some reasonably high end pedals with it. Shannon is one happy camper right now.

Very cool. It's not always cheap to get one of those vintage amps back up to snuff (re-cap, re-tube, etc.), but I'd love to get my hands on one at a reasonable price. He's getting some incredibly sweet sound out of that baby!

Is that the amp SRV recorded Little Wing with? Because with that neck pup he REALLY got eerily close tone-wise to SRV's Little Wing.

He used to hang with Double Trouble and knew Stevie so it is not surprising that he can get close to Stevie's tones. He spent a lot of time playing his stuff.

After watching that I have my eye on CL for a Twin Reverb RI. There was a super clean like new one for $600. But the post was a month old and my email got no reply.

I love the sound of the TRRI, but you might want to consider buying an attenuator along with it. The Twin is loud enough to rearrange chromosomes! My Deluxe Reverb sounds a little 'thin' at low volume, but really comes into its' own when you crank it up a bit and get the tubes working. I'm getting an attenuator soon and I look forward to trying it on the DRRI.
