What do you reckon!
My son asked me what I wanted for Xmas, I had'nt a clue what to have. So I had a look on Ebay, and I saw this cheap guitar from Germany. ALBA - ELECTRIC GUITAR METALSILVER WITH BLACK PICKGUARD on eBay, also Other Electric Guitars, Electric, Guitars, Musical Instruments (end time 26-Dec-07 20:26:30 GMT)
I thought for the price of £46.48 inc pp, the main body of the guitar looks pretty good. If It needs some new pickups or tuners or whatever, for what it cost's I could afford to spend a few £s upgrading this tele knockoff.
It has'nt arrived yet, but I'm looking forward to using it as a project to make my own custom guitar on a budget. Maybe someone out there has bought from the same company, and could give me a review.
Now when I talk to God he said he'd understand, Stick by me I'll be your guiding hand. But don't ask me what I think of you. I might not give the answer you want me to.

They seem to have gotten decent reviews.
Alba Telecaster copy: Harmony Central User Reviews
I wouldn't be surprised if it needed some setup, maybe some better strings, and if the blonde were not included, but those reviews are pretty encouraging at that price.

Thanks for that link P90, I reckon I've got a bargain. Without postage it has cost me less than £30. I bid for the same type of guitar a few times, but would'nt pay above what my son gave me, especially for a guitar I have played or heard of. I'm quite looking forward to it's arrival, I knew it would'nt be here before xmas as I did;nt order it until last friday. Once again P90, thanks for your feedback. by the way I've already got the blonde (my lovely wife.)

Don't think you can go wrong at that price Doug, like you say you can change things if you want to, the seller has pretty good feedback and very few bad comments on the guitar and at that price it's a bargain.

Sounds like a good deal to me, plus it would probably be a lot of fun fixing it up.

Listen for yourself
On the strength of a youtube video (uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0M-MzI3sBA0), I bid and bought one. It's stuck with my parents in the UK for the moment, but I look forward to receiving it after new year.

I paid a shade under 40 quid. It looks as if the freight over here will actually exceed the cost of the thing, which is annoying.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
