Another Mystery Guitar

... anyone have a clue to the manufacturer ?

This an apparent Teisco subsidiary.

Thanks!

Good luck Les, any of those earlier Japanese guitars are very very hard if not impossible to find info on. As to the Teisco reference, heres a little on dating if it will help, but I believe your going to need more info of the Crown logo to find out who put it out.

I know that those were made by Teisco in the '60s, although I've never seen one of the 12-string ones before. I also have no idea why Teisco decided not to put their regular logo on the headstock, and use the crown instead. Here's a pic of a 6-string one, in the hands of a Japanese dealer -- and even he doesn't have a model number for it. He calls it a Teisco, and wants 70,000 yen for it.

From the shape of the headstock, yours was probably made between '66 and the early '70s.

You might be able to find out more from the folks at Teisco Twanger's Paradise - home of vintage Teisco guitars

Welson also used a crown-type logo that has similarities but they didn't seem to put it on their guitars. But they did do violin style guitars. Maybe Italian, like Eko, who did similar things.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
