Drum machine
I remember years ago going to this restaurant that had a guy who sat in the corner and played acoustic guitar and would sing (a lot of Eagles songs) for tips while we munched down on a roast beef dinner. He had a drum machine with bass lines that appeared to have pre-programmed with songs that he would cover. I even remember him flipping though a note book searching for songs. After he found what number the song was, he would simply entering this into the machine and start playing. There must have been 100's of song in this thing.
I have a Fender amp (G-DEC) that has a built in drum machine with bass lines. This is an excellent tool to help me learn chord progressions and work on keeping tempo with different strumming patterns.
This amp is good and all, but I would love to find the same type of drum machine that the guitarist/singer at the restaurant had.
Any suggestions will be great.

I have a Boss DR-770 that will do that sort of thing. I've never used it for more than a built-in beat so far. But it has a lots of memory and programmability.

I have yamaha RY-9 drumm machine which have built in accompaniment band. Bass, and other two instrument. It has a numerous rhythms and you can realy play well, but also RY9 have smal memory...
You can try with Boss DR-660, or Boss JS-5 but it is very old so you can't find it in stock, only as second hand. Or even you can find (or buy) some arranger keyboard and load MIDI file -1. This -1 mean that you can turn off instrument you play, and practice or play like "one man band".
Also there is always possibillity to play MIDI files from lap-top just add your guitar... you can even compose your own music and play this way...
We can't lost, 'cause we don't know where we're oing
but anyway, we are all going in the same irection.

Yep, just to pipe in...I have a Boss DR-5 that works well to do just that (program in bass guitar or whatever voice you want along with a drum track).

Thanks for the suggestions.
I went with the Boss DR-880. The price is a little steep, but I think once I look through the manual this drum kit will do a nice job for what I am looking for.
Thanks again for the help!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
