Very cool "build" in process
Thought some of you might be interested in this - a member of another guitar forum I'm on is building a "Partscaster", but taking a somewhat different approach to it - he has access to CNC equipment, and is building the whole guitar basically from scratch! Very interesting stuff if you've ever considered building a guitar, or just appreciate seeing one built from raw materials. You don't even have to like Teles, it's just absolutely fascinating to watch this thing taking shape!

That was real interesting Stratrat, thanks alot for sharing. I've always wondered how they put the truss rod in, learn something new everyday...Thanks again

Yep. Simplicity at it's finest.
I'll be starting on one as soon as the neck and body arrive from Warmoth. All the other parts (except the pickups) are here and waiting. Double-bound ash body in "Sonic Blue" with cream binding and a maple neck. I'm probably going to go with Don Mare custom-wound pickups. I'll post some pics of it once I get going.

It must be a very rewarding thing to build one's own guitar and to do it well. I wouldn't mind having a go at that one day.

This is great, thanks for posting.
I must admit I am rapidly falling in love with Tele's, I am looking at a American Fender for when my bonus comes in.

Kriss - a bit of advice for you....if you like the "vintage" 3-saddle Tele bridge or even remotely think that you might want to go that route at some point, avoid the American Standards / American Deluxes. They have a modern 6-saddle bridge that is longer and has a different screw pattern than the vintage bridge. There are one or two companies that sell adapted vintage bridges that will fit the AmStd, but they're considerably longer and kind of funny-looking.
If I were going to pony up the cash for an AmStd or AmDlx, I'd save a few extra $$$ and pop for the American Vintage '52 Reissue (AV52RI). Vintage Tele vibe at it's best!

I just replaced the one on my MIM Tele with a standard 3-saddle bridge (w/brass saddles) this morning. The MIM's are a straight-across swap, I don't know why they decided to make the American Standard/Deluxe a totally different bridge.

Stratrat,
Do you have any idea if that bridge would fit a '51?

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
