I Finally Got It
a travelling guitar that is. Put some new strings on it today and we're off camping tomorrow. The tone is amazingly pretty good. The volume is not there though, but that's exactly what I want for the camp site. Here's a link to the guitar

Nice one Nutty that's a cool guitar, that's a good price and you get all those extras including a good case so it's a good deal, have a good time playing your new guitar on your holiday and enjoy the camping trip, I haven't been camping for years.
Cheers
Chris

Airports and guitars
I'd like to hear about experiences acoustic guitar musicians have at airports when traveling by plane. What type of gear is most reliable to prevent damage? Gate check or baggage check? Carry on or leave it at home?

I Travel through europe with an acoustic quite a bit, I have a semi hard case. Its canvas covered but a soft polly ura thingy mould so the guitar is snug but the case is light.
The guitar usually is allowed to travel with me on the plane and I strap it into a spare seat for no extra cost. Only twice have I had to place into the baggage section as the plane was full, both times I carried the guitar to the steps of the plane and both times it has been handed to me after the flight.

Thanks, I just bought a case such as you describe. I hope it holds up. More than that, I hope they allow me to gate check it as you did yours.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
