Baldwin gibson

Dudes at the mo i have a very cheap chinese made srat copy £50 it's ok , anyway in the UK i have noticed Baldwin Gibson are selling a budget guitar and was wondering if it is better than a Epiphone, want to upgrade to a LP or SG around xmas (please Santa) or should i look for a 2nd hand Gibson, not sure about E-Bay as i here theres a lot of fakes around....
Or could i buy cheaper from the USA, would i have to pay taxes when it arrives or could i get it sent over by a relative as a gift???

Help As always is recievd gratefully cheers

The reviews are not encouraging Gibson Baldwin Guitar Reviews: Harmony Central® - User Reviews

I would keep clear of one of those.

I have pro musician friends who by chance are talking about that axe. Much laughing and references to canoe paddles and fire wood. I would say pass.

EPi's are ok, I have the LP Custom and that sounds nice and looks great. Only issue I had was that the nut was not the best looking nut I have ever seen in that is was poorly finished and looked like a lego brick. It played well despite and I hace since replaced it.

One thing to note that I have noticed is the resale price for these are very low (in Ireland anyway) often not even making 50% of the orriginal cost. You can take two things from that 1, it would have to be a keeper or 2, Buy a 2nd hand one for small cost, there is one here that has been setup well with Seymore Duncans loaded selling for €250.

A few posts on here have also pointed people towards the Aria LP copies. They are cheap as chips and play well aparently.
