Cheap CRAFTER FX

I have a good chance of laying my hands on a CRAFTER FX-550EQ.

After the rather bad experience with my chea Stagg I was wondering if this cheapo would be better. I have been told that the action is insane but I rather ask you guys first.

Don't want anything too expensive either (will take the plundge next year).

Any feedback on this model would be great!

Thx guys!

I've never played one - never even seen one before until I just went and looked at their website. Quality-wise it doesn't look much better or worse than most entry-level guitars, but it has a laminate top and fiberglass back and sides.....probably not a great tonal combination.

If I were going to buy an entry-level acoustic guitar, I'd give serious consideration to the Yamaha FG700 (if its available where you live.) It has a solid spruce top and laminate sides - both of which are a step up from the Crafter. Yamaha builds good-quality instruments at pretty much every level, and this guitar gets consistently decent reviews. For $199, it would be pretty hard to beat.

Thanks for the comments. Kinda figures doesn’t it? Ya gets what ya pay sfor!

What I dread most if going into a purchasing spiral in search for the ultimate 100€ crapo!

Will hold on to my original plans, keep practicing and if all goes well get myself an acoustic Gretsch which was my original plan. At 650€ (1€ = 1.30USD aprox.) they don’t come in cheap but boy what a delight! Deans' I like too...

Thanks for the comments! Good to be here, yeah!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
