sour string
I have a fairly new Squire esprit guitar, double humbuckers, 3 way switch and am playing it through a Roland 20x amp. Everything sounds good except the G string. The G string alone is not too bad, but the A note on the second fret sounds soooooo sour! It is in tune almost all the way up the neck, but that one string sounds so sour. Is there anything I can do about this?
thanks,
hb

Change strings!! If that doesn't get it, maybe you have a high fret somewhere.

okay....I have changed strings and I still get the same relsult. By intonation, does this mean staying in tune all the way up the neck? If so, it seems to stay pretty much in tune, but it just has such a sour sound to it. Perhaps I should have it checked for a high fret.
thanks,

It also could be that the nut is cut too deep for that string and it's touching the first fret. Are you getting any fret buzz from it?

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
