Headset Mics

I've just been reading the thread on different types of mics, but has anyone got any advice on headset mics obviously for vocals. I've had a look at some on the internet and they seem to be very expensive or very cheap especially on Ebay.
I like the look of the skin-coloured ones you see singers using plus the fact that it would be easier to use a headset while playing a guitar. I'm only a beginner but I thought it would be nice to try and sing the melody whilst strumming.

I will ask a friend of mine. He has used one of those in gigs for years.

My friend uses the crown. This is what he suggests
"No, I've tried many, the cheep one's suck. The Shure, AKG and Crown are the worth while ones that I've tried." Hope that helps.

I've heard the Crowns are really good too.

You also have to decide if you want just a boom/headset mic, or if you want to have the monitor in your ear at the same time, like with the Crown.

Some of the more expensive ones have both.

You can also, if you want, do a search on the Celtic Women (singing act), and see if they list their gear. Their headsets are nearly invisible.

Sorry, it's Celtic Woman (the act) and they use Sennheiser wireless gear.

Countryman E-6, right now is a very good one. Nearly invisible. Bit on the expensive side though. Sound is very, very good.

But may be a bit more than what you are looking for if you are just starting out. Unless money is not a problem

Yes, the E6 looks fantastic just what I would like to go for, but as you say expensive. Quite a lot of well-known makes do a microset almost exactly the same. On most of the websites I looked at (UK ones), you buy the mic separately with the appropriate connecting plug for the wireless transmitter & receiver system you've got. Actually, I must admit reading all the technical stuff was mind-boggling, I didn't understand most of it. I think I'll see if I can get just the headset mic (or microset as they call them) at a reasonable price, to plug into my PC and see how that goes. I've noticed that US websites seem to have all the best stuff at the best prices, but I'm not sure if the price would work out about the same if I have to pay VAT (17.5% tax) and import tax.
