Behringer amps
I've been looking for future upgrades for my amp.
I only have a practice amp at the moment, Marshall MG10CD.
I've been looking at Behringer amp, the price is the attraction compared to the much more expensive Marshall equipment.
Anyone have any experience with Behringer?

my experience is with their modeler device, the V-Amp2 for guitar. I use it at home through the computer or Stereo, at practice and Live I run left out to P.A. and right out to my small 20 watt practice amp on a clean setting, and EQ'd flat.
I heartily endorse this device and hope to test their V-Ampire Head soon. The V-Amp is a great bang for $99, good guts in a budget plastic case. Take care with the knobs, and its best kept in its carrying bag when not in use. I tried toting mine in the bag with cords and pedals and broke a knob off. Still works great, just gotta break out the pliers if I ever have to set up new sounds.
The V-Amp has headphone out and line out, and would work with your small amp on clean, and I promise it'll have enough great sounds to keep you jamming for a long time.

I've mostly only heard people bashing Behringer amps. I have a Behringer mixer and I love it. I was thinking about getting a Behringer amp at one point but I couldn't find any good comments on them so I passed.
I kind of agree with Dewy. If you are looking to get better tones and not necessarily a louder more powerful amp, then FX modeling is the way to go. I cast my vote for the Korg AX3G as the best sounding low cost FX device. $50 here in the US. Add $20 and the AX5G has an expression pedal.

I have a Behringer bass amp that seems to work just fine. I've never turned it all the way up though, I think that the house would shake apart if I did...

I don't have any personal experience with them, but like Fly said - most of what I've heard about Behringer has been bashing. Looking in the price range of any Behringer that could be considered an upgrade to your Marshall practice amp, I'd much sooner look at the Roland Cube 30X or Vox AD30VT. Both get pretty consistently good reviews for both tone and quality. The Vox seems to have had some reliability issues in the past, but it appears that they've been sorted out in more recent builds.

A Lot of the bashing comes from folks that resent that fact that Behringer essentially takes someone else's product and "redesigns" it. They put very little into their own designs, and then have some other factory or contractor put the thing together for the lowest bid. That is why some of the stuff is good and some is, well, not so good, to be polite.
Myself? I have a V-amp2 that I just recently purchased. Like it a lot but haven't had it out long enough to see how tough it is.
I also have a V-Tone GM-108 amp. A little 15 amp model that I've been using as a stage monitor instead of the Peavey Classic 30 (we're trying to make the stage sound even lower) I've had it about a year and it's pretty nice for 15 watts. Can get decently loud and has quite a few sounds I can get from it.
I've also had the FCB1010 Midi Foot controller. I've had it for a while now. I used it to control my Johnson J-Station. I had to basically rewrite the instructions for lay people. Their's was so Engineered oriented it made no sense. But, (knock on wood!!) I've used it a long time and taken it out quite a bit over the last few (5 maybe?) years and it's still working.
I've corresponded with a couple of other guys and two out of three really liked their Behringer amps. They weren't the GMX212 but the model just before that.
Oh, and our church has the Bass amp, Ultra Bass BX1200 (I think that's the model) and the two bass players really like it. Sounds good to me and can really move some air when we roll the volume up to around 4.
So, You hear some good things and some not so good things. All I can say is I remember when Yamaha came out with new stuff!!!.. '
Boy oh boy!! Did folks slam that !!! but they turned out to be one of the top Mixer console makers in the world. They made some pretty nice guitars, too. And their amps are still out there working , as long as you don't let them sit in a flooded basement (sorry, recent thing, long story, yucky stuff, bugs, dried slime......)
Anyway. Go play a Behringer with your guitar!!! See how you like it! If it sounds good to you and the price is right, Go for it!!

Some superb feedback there guys, thankyou.
I did actually consider making my cab to save money, diy is something I'm no stranger to. But then to find some lower price goodies such as Behringer means I may not have to brush up my diy skills.
I'd actually be happier with an amp without all the FX/modelling nonsense due to the fact I plan to use a something like toneworks box for my effects, finding a straight amp is something proving more difficult than I imagined.
It has to be down to price for me in the end so it is looking like Behringer will be for me.

Some of the modeling amps still have a pretty decent 'clean' tone if you turn off all the fx. Another route to consider would be to look at something along the lines of a Fender Pro Jr. or Epiphone Valve Jr. combo - nice tube tone to build your fx onto.

Check the sounds on the V-Amp before spending more money... you might be surprised.

Ditto on that one Andy - I`ve got a Yamaha Mixer that spent most of it`s life in a secondary school studio . It sat a few years full of what I think was Coke. A good clean up of the switches and sliders and it works fine - with a good few dings and minus it`s slider knobs

The more I look into this the more I am tempted to go for a bit of DIY. Certainly would save a chunk of money by making my own cab. As for the amp I could then get a pretty good lump for just over £100.
If I decide on some DIY I will of course post the images on the equipment section of the site.

IMO the bashing of Behringer products in the past was only partially deserved and they have turned the corner on quality control.
The earlier UB mixers got some well deserved bashing and the new line has gotten much better. that said i use a small UB802 eurorack in my home studio and it performs flawlessly.
also anyone who pays top dollar for a shure SM58 is throwing money away imo the Behringer XM8500 at $20 is as good if not better.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
