One of the reasons I decided to finally pick up a guitar and learn was because of a friend of mine who plays guitar in a band here in the Twin Cities. To backtrack a tad, I moved to MN last year and met my girlfriend a few months after I got here. She's lived here her whole life and has about 300 freakin' friends. Some of her friends are in a local band called So Big. They play in bars all over the place up here. Anyway, I met them and, more specifically, their guitarist through my girlfriend.
Rick, the (aforementioned) guitarist has been a really nice guy when it comes to talking about guitars/gear with me and I'm learning quite a bit from him. He recently went to St Louis, I think it was, and spent 6 weeks or so learning how to build custom guitars. In fact, he has his own shop up here now doing repair and restoration and soon, building axes.
I wanted to share the
photos he took when he was in this class just because it's amazing to see raw materials become a finished guitar. I think he wound up with a really, really sweet axe! By the way, the pics are in reverse order so start on the last page and lemme know what you think of the RJC custom.....oh yeah, can someone send me 3-4 grand so I can get him to make me one???

I read somewhere that learning to play was a sort of negotiation between you and your guitar. I now believe it.
So much to learn, so many callouses to build.™
