Custom Built Guitar

One of the reasons I decided to finally pick up a guitar and learn was because of a friend of mine who plays guitar in a band here in the Twin Cities. To backtrack a tad, I moved to MN last year and met my girlfriend a few months after I got here. She's lived here her whole life and has about 300 freakin' friends. Some of her friends are in a local band called So Big. They play in bars all over the place up here. Anyway, I met them and, more specifically, their guitarist through my girlfriend.

Rick, the (aforementioned) guitarist has been a really nice guy when it comes to talking about guitars/gear with me and I'm learning quite a bit from him. He recently went to St Louis, I think it was, and spent 6 weeks or so learning how to build custom guitars. In fact, he has his own shop up here now doing repair and restoration and soon, building axes.

I wanted to share the photos he took when he was in this class just because it's amazing to see raw materials become a finished guitar. I think he wound up with a really, really sweet axe! By the way, the pics are in reverse order so start on the last page and lemme know what you think of the RJC custom.....oh yeah, can someone send me 3-4 grand so I can get him to make me one???

I read somewhere that learning to play was a sort of negotiation between you and your guitar. I now believe it.
So much to learn, so many callouses to build.™

Very Nice , thanks for showing the process of his build

I have been bored since I sold my street rod project I had been working on the past 6 years ( 37 ford tudoor humpback ) , I need something to do and am thinking of building a kit electric guitar , beings I dont have any wood working tools , all I have is tools to work metal , so the kit form is the best option .

Just wish I had a bridgeport mill , I would mill one out of Aluminum and see how that would come out ........

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
