The PG off a Starcaster is probably going to have some very cheap pups on it. I don't know about the Mighty Mites - one place you might want to check out before you buy is Guitar Fetish....their pups are pretty affordable and get a lot of good user reviews.

Mighty Mite , historically , has made some very good parts, including pups. They make quite a few different pups and configurations.
Seems Harmony-Central.com has a lot of reviews on pups. Go there and check them out for what other folks are saying about the particular ones you are thinking about.
And I agree with StratRat. Check out GuitarFetish.com for some pups at a good price. I have some that I think are great sounding. I've corresponded with others that all have had great reactions to the quality and pricing of their stuff.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with Andy. Guitar Fetish is the best bang for the buck.

You can pay 380 or more for vintage LP pups.

I just paid $100 for one single-coil pickup (handmade), and feel like I got a real bargain. Pickups, either collectable oldies or botique new ones, can be steep.
Along with Guitar Fetish, Wilkinson makes (well, licenses) some very nice pickups for the price. They aren't easy to find in the US, but they're routinely listed on ebay (expect to pay for shipping from Australia or East Asia).

Ditto on GuitarFetish. The pre-loaded pickguard is reasonable but low end. Lots of folks don't notice that they will build you a pickguard with your choice of their pickups and pots. Can get a high-end unit for less than half or what an equivalent item would cost at your local guitar shop or luthier.

+1 for Guitar Fetish,
Lovely sounds out of all the GF equipped guitars I have heard, and a fair amount of guitars pass through here for setup/repair or jams.
I have 2 guitars among the family here fitted out with them, A strat build with P90's and a BC Rich Warlock Platinum Pro with a high gain Crusader in the bridge. Can't praise them enough

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
