Characteristics of a heavy metal guitar aka shred machine

What would you say is a characteristic of one? I say the following:

- Unusual shape (BC RICH, ESP etc)
- Made by these brands (doesn't really have to): Dean, BC Rich, ESP, Jackson, Ibanez, the one Synyster Gates uses I forgot the name! (and I"m an A7X fan too!)
- VERY easy upper fret access (not really sure how)
- Fast thin neck
- Locking tremolo (Floyd Rose etc) or some sort ot tremolo bridge
- Sounds good under heavy distortion
- Sounds bad under clean

Bands Ive seen: All that Remains, Dragonforce(2x), Chimaira (2x), Killswitch Engage, Terror, Divine+Heresy, Katakylsm, Three, Between the Burried and me, Opeth, Dream Theater, High on fire, Job for a cowboy, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Megadeth

Scalloped fretboard, lethal pointed bits and groovy art-work.

I haven't knocked myself out doing around the worlds yet. I have a new way of doing the around the world trick. I start off like normal, but instead of catching it at the end, I release it while it's still "in mid air" and end off with me holding the guitar in my left hand.
