i need a new guitar bad.
i interested in buying a semi hollow electric guitar. i bought an epiphone Dot Deluxe which was pretty good in tone but i wasnt overall satisfied with the guitar because the craftmanship was below average. i was kind ugly to look at. i was the cleanest looking Dot at Guitar Center. i bought it for $400. so i took it back. i found an ibanez Artcore AK 95D for $480. i looks stuning and sounds great.
what do you guys think about this. should i get this ibanez. any recommandations? im looking for a semi hollow electric guitar in the price range of $400-$500.
i want to get a guitar that i would love and be proud of. i dont want to waste money on something a little bit cheaper and get bored of it 1 year later. i guess what im trying to say is that i need a guitar that i want play every minute and still love it 5-10 years from now. of course a $1000-$2000 Gibson would be the perfect guitar, but i cant affort it.

Looks stunning and sounds great.. so what's the reservation? I have a Dot that I think looks great. But the 335 type guitars are pretty big, so are you sure that you'll be happy with one of them hanging around your neck? The Fender Thinline Tele is nice size for a semi-hollow body.

lle7,
Is it just like the picture on the Ibanez home page!!???
Dude!! I'm in love!!!! That is a gorgeous guitar. I have a AG85 from 2 years ago that I absolutely love playing. I think the quality is absolutely perfect. I think you would really enjoy that AK 95. The only reservation is that has a wood bridge, so the tones would be more toward the mellow, jazzy side. If that's where your interest is, yeh!! Go for it. If not, you can always change out that floating bridge for a tune-a-matic style floating bridge for a small bit of cash.
But overall, I highly recommend Ibanez semi-hollow bodies only because I'm so happy with mine.

You can get a Gibson acoustic for around $800,
if that interests you. They are very nice.
I have an Ibanez Art Core that is terrific. I don't think you can go wrong with that one.
Everyone that plays it WANTS it!!

I've heard great things about the ibanez artcore. My friend has one and absolutely loves it. Plus it is a beautiful guitar.

for the price around $500. yeah its very attractive. but i dont know if there are any other guitar out there that's may be better than the banez with the same price. i also like the epiphone Casino but it's $600 though.
im really into blues, and classic rock. i know that the classic bands like the beatles and the animals used those semi hollow guitar and blues legend like BB King also used semi hollow guitar. i dont know if any brand, models, or built would do the give that blues or classic rock tone.

Mmmmmmmm, thinline Tele! I'm not sure if it fits what lle7 has in mind, but those are definitely sweet guitars!

Actually the dots are usually quite good in craftmanship for the price so you might have got a duff one. The reality is tho, it depends which plant made it. Funny enough, Gibson's chinese plant that makes epi's is regarded as being the worst. The best are the korean plants, DaeWon and Saein plants (kor and china). I don't think Samick makes epi's anymore but they were also good.

My Dot is gorgeous. The action is very low all the way up the fret board with no buzz. Although now that I'm throwing more bends in my playing I'm finding that bends in some of the upper frets are getting muted by the higher fret, so I am going to raise the action a bit. Easier (and safer) than filing frets and the action is really low now.

epiphone
i love epiphones. i think the semi one i bought was being used by many people or been sitting around for too long at the store. i have an epiphone acustic that was bought from a garage sale 5 years ago for about $100. i think that i had a great deal because it sounds great and looks like a nicely built solid guitar with many cool looking features. i was in almost perfect condition too Check it out it's a 12 string guitar but i only use 6 like normal acustic though.

So I've been meaning to ask this. "GAS" is obviously "jonesing" for a guitar, but what does it stand for? Guitar Acquisition Syndrome?
I read somewhere that learning to play was a sort of negotiation between you and your guitar. I now believe it.
So much to learn, so many callouses to build.™

is it Guitar Aquisiton Syndrome. i dont think i do. my electric one is just a beginner's practice guitar. i was very cheap so it doesnt have very good tone and the electronic switch worn out or something; you have to wiggle it to get it to work. it actually pretty good for $150 guitar.

"Guitar Acquisition Syndrome" or "Gear Acquisition Syndrome", depending on what you're currently jonesing for!
