Humidifier?

Hi. I just had a simple question about guitar humidifiers. I have this pretty old guitar, it was my grandpas when he was my age, and Ive had it for three years now. I havent changed the strings even once and havent had a single problem with it, so basically it is a tough guitar. It was brought to my attention the other day that I should get a humidifier for it. Is this really necessary? I havent had a single problem with it ever, but I dont want to treat it like crap and have it explode on me someday. What exactly will the humidifier do for the guitar besides "add moisture"?...will it perform better/last longer?

Thanks for the help,
Dave

klein99,
Some people do not have a problem with humudity. It all depends on your own environment. Too dry is no good and too wet is a problem.
What may look right to you may not always be the case. Go to this link and decide for yourself.

I don't care who makes it. If its wood it can affect anyone at some time.

I like to have a bag of Silica Gel (comes with shoes and electronics) to drop into my guitar cases or sound holes (good practice for removing picks). It Absorbs EXCESS moisture and helps regulate the humidity around your guitar.

Its also nasty stuff to dispose of in landfills and such, so recycling it is a win/win.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
