Getting the most out of your Vox AD30VT
I know some members here have these so I thought I would pass it along from a friend of mine.
"I always felt a bit let down by the clean patches... thought they should be better than they are...
well... I found the solution... volume... and lots of it... especially with the black 2x12 patch... which previously hadn't done much for me at all...
If you dime the gain, volume and master and the attenuator on the back, that black 2x12 patch becomes flat out incredible... it stays mostly clean, but the sensitivity and pop that's missing at bedroom levels blooms... it had no trouble cutting through the din in a REALLY loud environment... unbelievable... amazing for a $200 amp... the high gain Soldano patch is pretty much completely awesome as well...
I took it to band practice the other day to see how it would hang with the big boys... I plugged in my strat cranked it up and just about wet myself...
and really, it did pretty well against the half stack... the other guitarist now feels he needs a different amp... and he does... his 100 watt SS Laney got crushed by this little 30 watt Vox with a 10" speaker...
...I might have to get a bigger one now in the event I ever start to gig as a guitarist"

Thats a nice way to use a new amp. A laney stack amp just like DragonForce?

Very cool, AT. I've only briefly played an AD30VT at Guitar Center (while demo'ing guitars), and it sounded kind of thin to me. Nice to know that it "fills out" when you crank it a bit!

I've got the 50 watt and I've never had to crank up the attenuator knob past 5, even when playing next to a drum set. I really dig the VOX amps.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
