free drum tracks/drum editor?

does anyone know of a drum track creator that is also a free download? I found very few on the web, and the only one I liked was a demo, and lacked a few key features as a result.

the main feature I want is the ability to export to Mp3, WAV, or some other format that can be added into a mix. It would help my songwriting quite a bit I think. I have a lot of guitar part ideas, and it'd be nice to hear how they sound with some drums underneath. I have a rather shoddy way to simulate a bass guitar, which does its job I suppose. So, with all these things I would be able to create something for you all to critique.

Also, if I connect my guitar to the line in directly, will this do any damage? If I take my guitar, plug in your basic guitar cable into the guitar, then take the other part of the guitar cord and stick in the back of my computer? Will I be able to record the guitar this way?

Try Leaf Drums and Rhythm Rascal, both free fully functional downloads (Leaf Drums asks you to pay only when you are happy with using it).

As for connecting your guitar to the PC.... check Tekkers excellent lessons on recording, the lesson regarding input can be found here.

Thanks OldG. That looks to do the trick.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
