Probably a stupid string question

Do the different types of strings make any change in sound. Ive read about people always using different types of strings. Im a Death fan so like a deep sound. Would a bog standard set of strings offer that or do you need to have a specific type. Cheers in advance

I'd sell my soul for a Left Handed BC Rich Warlock....

The thicker the guage of string the deeper the sound. But, the down side is they are harder to fret and to bend. Drop tuning can also help for a deeper sound.
My advice is try different ones and stick with the ones you like.

Some manufacturers make string sets with heavy bottom strings (for those grindy power chords) and light top strings (for easy bending).

"I wish I could play that fast - then I would have the option of not doing that."

I play metalish music and I use Ernie Ball skinny top heavy bottom strings (bottom strings higher gauge, top strings lower gauge). They're about 5 dollars at sam ash or on the internet. They're perfect for drop tuning like drop C IMO. You can get thick tone on the bottom strings and easy to bend shredding strings at the top. I would try different strings and find out what you like.

I think I'll give those a go next time. Cheers.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
