I've stumbled upon this, and thought it sounded really nice.

YouTube - Top Gun Anthem - Georg Norberg

So i've been trying to play the first part of it. I've recorded a few takes, and attached the best take i could play. There is a huge difference between his and my version (i cannot be held responsible for any ear damage) But i can't really spot the differences. Is it perfect timing? Is it a slight vibrato all over the place? Or should i just move on and try again within a year?

Wow I haven't heard that one in ages! Timing sounded good. You're notes were clear. The only criticism I have is it sounds a little too robotic. That'll go away with practice once you know the song better and can relax.

We're not gonna listen to you, because we are open minded.

Hey there,

Nice playing! But, I agree with PepticDust. It sounds too mechanical like you're just thinking about hitting the notes. Listen to the original recording, see where he puts the accents and vibrato to give the song it's feel.

Thank you for the feedback peptic and lorsban. "Robotic" or "mechanical" is indeed a good description of what i don't like about it. The funny thing is that i really tried to put some feeling into it

/fail

Anyway, the last couple of months, i haven't touched my electric anymore. I turned my attention 100% to classic guitar, perhaps i should post something new (first have to get a decent mic)

One way to really add feel is to reduce distortion and delay. With a cleaner tone, you're forced somewhat subconsciously to add emphasis.
