  Trying different Scales.

I am pretty sure there is already a link on this site somewhere....I am kinda guessing this is where I got it from in the first place. That you can find loads of new scales on, simply by having a look around and the interface is good for playing straight off the page. Here

I tried the Japanese (in sen) one, obviously not trying for a japanese sound, though easily done with the scale. Knocked this up in a short while. Just 45 secs of solo playing over a lazy backing.

I figured we could pick random scales and show our attempts to use them. I suggest for chords you just pick a few random notes from the scale you choose and try variations of chords til some work, (i think it offers some suggestions sometimes can't remember though) backing isn't important we not trying to write anything special.

Just figured we could inspire each other to try something new, open new ideas that sort of thing...felt i was getting into a bit of a rut again.

Neat idea Fong, there was a discussion about Arabian music on here a few weeks ago which was interesting. There are some good links in there and a few tunes, one of the links is to a nice piece by Fretsource called Eastern Wave, that's a good thread as well, thanks for posting.

Arabian music?

Fong,
That was pretty cool and a good idea. Here is a lesson on the Minor Harmonic scale that has that Eastern flavor. Next Level Guitar - How To Play Yngwie Malmsteen Shred Guitar
