Guitar and Flute

This is something I did this morning inspired by Marshall Tucker Band. I laid down some rhythm and then played a lead over it. Then I played the flute over it and decided to pull the lead out. It's real short and a bit sloppy as everything I do in one take is. But I thought it sounded kind of cool so I'm posting it. I'd really like to do a MTB song with the flute so maybe I can pull that off soon.

Great job fly.
A good one for you would be Coming Back To You by The Jefferson Airplane. That was one haunting use of a flute solo.

Excellent fly. I'm always baffled how flute players have more blow than about 2 seconds worth (all I could manage when I tried it once). Very nice.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll check out that Jefferson Airplane song Allthumbs.

I got a flute in trade from someone back in college and learned to play a few little bits from albums. Stuff like Genesis, Camel, and Marshall Tucker. I played a clarinet in Jr High for a couple years and the fingering was pretty much the same. It's fun now to be able to play it with my guitar.

Hey Fly, any chance of getting a track of just the flute...might like a play with that if you don't mind.

No prob X4. I have it in two tracks. I'll give you a link after I get home tonight. The guitar chords are D, C, & G. I record myself a lot while noodling around. This is one of those "hey not bad I'd better save it moments".

The rhythm had quite a few sour spots and it might be a bit out of tune. But my creativity has been a bit dry lately with so much other stuff going on in my life. Extra load at work, laying laminate floor, and lots of home repairs piling up. I start feeling guilty if I monkey on the guitar too much.

Sorry X4, there's a bit of guitar in the background. I recorded the flute with a mic and there's some bleed from the amp.

No Problem Fly, Thanks! I need to to record more of my playing around too, I always forget what I was doing when I don't.

That had a really nice feel to it, sounds good!

Knight46, JF-30, AX7221... Thanks for listening and the comments. The flute is a pretty cool instrument. Although it doesn't hold a candle to the geetar.

I'd really like to get a chance to play a good one though. I bought a new Chinese flute shaped object off eBay for $60 and another used one real cheap. It seems like I can either play the high register clear on one or the low register clear on the other, but not both. Maybe one day I set aside funds and go play some new quality ones at the music shop.
