How do I share audio files?
I am wanting to post an audio file here so that I can get some feedback, and to let everyone hear the sound of my new Schecter C-1 Elite, since some have asked. I tried signing onto a website that will let me do it, but something is wrong, and I can't seem to get signed up. Is there a website that is used around here? Thanks for your help.

Pastorbob,
You can upload a file here as long as it is not a cover or copywrite protected. If you go to Go Advanced you will see Manage Attachments. If you click there it will allow you to upload a audio file to your post.
I hope that this helps.

Not a problem, also if the song is a cover you will have to host it on another site. A lot of the members here use SoundClick.

Knight46, I played it from out of a worship song book, and not cover from off of a recording. I'm guessing that copywrite and cover problems wouldn't apply, but then I am posting it in a public way, so maybe you can advise me here.

PastorBob, the book itself is probably protected, tis better safe than sorry so you should host it off site.
Like Knight mentioned "Soundclick" is pretty simple to use....Looking forward to hearing you....Kenny

I thought I read that we weren't allowed to share anything copywrited, or covered from Soundclick anymore. I thought I saw a sticky from Clancy about that. Maybe I misunderstood. All this recording stuff is new to me.

Sorry PB, it can be confusing at times, we don't allow copyrighted items here on the site, you have to host them off site. What Clancy was referring to, is linking off site to an original{your very own} tune, soundclick and the like sites use a rating system of votes etc and it wouldn't be fair to link to them from here, also some in the past have abused that privilage. You can link to a copyrighted tune as that would then fall under the other sites responsiblity as to legal issues or what-nots.
I'm not positive about worship tunes, but I would believe they too are protected, and that is why I recommended hosting off site. Hope this helps, if you need help setting up an outside host account please let us know and we can help you walk thru it.....Kenny

PS: PastorBob, if you have your own web site, you could just link to there in here.

Kenny, it looks like I have to have a band site in order to upload any music. Am I understanding that right? My biggest problem is that to do justice to the sound, I didn't want to use a video camera. I thought it would be best to go with an audio recording. Then I found out that audio hosting is rather rare. Everybody does photo and video, including MySpace! This seems much more complicated than I expected.

PB, do you use any audio editing programs like Audacity or Krystal, Reaper etc.? Audacity is free and very simple to get started with, I even posted a short how to on it over in the "music/guitar software" sub-forum. Its not really all that hard to start recording your own mp3's, just a tad of patience learning and you'll be saving them all.
If I'm misunderstanding your statement and you already have an audio file, then its simply a matter of choosing where to post it{here or off site}.
Edit - Soundclick will host audio as do most of them out there, just seems more and more{artists} are choosing video as their main format

Sorry PB, I sped right past this, you "do" need an account set-up at whichever hosting site you choose, most are free with the option of a "pay for more" type of account....free is plenty if your just interested in sharing and not the selling of your music.

Kenny, I did get Audacity about a month ago for recording my drums, and I have a small Behringer mixer, but I was struggling to get the sound that I wanted, as I am recording onto a laptop, and have to use the mic input. For that reason, I held off trying to record the guitar.
My most recent purchase was an audio interface and I am finding that this is helping to get the sound the way I want it. It's also easy to plug the guitar straight into the interface, and I get an immediate clean sound of the guitar. I have made 1 recording so far, just to let people hear the guiatr, and to get some constructive feedback on my playing. I'll keep working on getting it posted.
