Critique and Suggestions Please
I've been practicing this piece (JS Bach's Bourree) for about a month now (shortly after I returned form vacation). I am not making much progress Here is a clip of the first part of Bourree:
YouTube - Bourree - Novice Practice
I would like to know, in general what I can do to improve my form and playing. I know my posture is off (until I lose some weight, this has to be) but, even when I am not playing, I feel like I am wrestling the guitar and not holding it.

Sounds pretty darn good to me clefless. You've been playing a lot less than we, but you are way above me. Great job.

Nice job. It looks like you may be holding the guitar on an angle across your chest with the neck closer to your body than the body of the guitar. That would pretty much guarantee that your right arm would be trying to force the body of the guitar in. Play with the distance the neck is in front of your shoulder.

You're being very harsh on yourself Clefless ,I thought it was very good , Maybe a bit a rest from it is called for, a bit of a chill out .

I think your doing very well, and yes a change in the holding of the guitar would be better.

Thanks all. I've decided to get a few lessons. Money's tight, it's a small town, and finding a classical teacher might not be easy, but I think I am going to stagnate without guidance. It is hard to hear from that video because of the poor camera, but quite a few notes are thin. I have a general idea (practice) of what to do about it, but I'm just not sure how to get there at this point.

It sounds great, but it seems that you only use your middle finger on your right hand in the video. You will need to develop your index and ring finger as well to progress as a classical player.

Good advice you're getting. You're definitely showing promise for playing a piece like that in your first year. Good luck getting lessons.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
