  Interval Ear Trainer

INTERVAL EAR TRAINER
Test and improve your ability to recognise and name musical intervals - the building blocks of music.

The program has three main operating modes: STUDY MODE, TEST MODE-SCORING and TEST MODE-NON SCORING (AUTO PLAY).

STUDY MODE is the default mode. Click on any interval on the right of the screen to hear how it sounds, and try to remember the distinct sound associated with each interval.

You can hear each interval in a variety of ways by changing any of the default settings. Pointing your mouse cursor over most of the settings buttons displays some information about them in the main display screen.

Notice that clicking intervals to hear them also selects or deselects them from the list of intervals that will be included in the TEST

Click the START TEST button to begin the test based on the default settings or customise the settings to suit your level.

TEST MODE-SCORING
SCORING MODE is the default setting. Randomly chosen intervals are sounded and you have to identify each interval as it's played. When you hear the interval, click its name from the list of selected intervals on the right to enter your answer. You can repeat each interval as often as necessary.
Each answer will be marked as correct or incorrect and scored accordingly.

TEST MODE-NON SCORING (AUTO PLAY)
With this setting, the intervals are played continuously with each interval being named a few seconds after it's played. No input is necessary, and this is the best mode for practising listening to intervals while checking your answers on the guitar. You can use the PAUSE and repeat BUTTONS if you want more time to identify an interval.

NOTE NAMES. If you aren't familiar with interval names, you can try to identify the upper note of each interval, For ear training purposes, being able to name the notes is just as important as naming the interval.
