Newsletter - 18 December 2007

Hi, fellow guitar picker. One last bit of news before the holiday season: I've done three more carol lessons, this time strummed versions so that you can play accompaniment to any singers who may want to do a bit of warbling this Christmas.

Kirk's Strummed Christmas Carols

I only had time to do three, but they're good ones:

God rest Ye Merry Gentlemen:

Silent Night:

We Wish You a Merry Christmas:
We Wish You a merry Christmas - accompaniment

They're in G / Em but remember that you can clamp a capo on the neck and bring them up in pitch if the singers prefer another key.

Slide Guitar in Standard and Dropped D tunings

I did a little movie of some electric slide guitar in dropped D the other day ... a five minute improvisation over the great chord progression from Jimi Hendix's 'Little Wing'. If you like that sort of thing, check it out in the movie player on the home page of BottleNeckGuitar.Com ... Slide Guitar Web Ring - Bottleneck Guitar

Merry Christmas to you from me, Clancy and little baby Georgia ... have a great one, take care on the roads, don't eat too much ... on second thought, eat lots!

All the best from The Sunburnt Country.
