Just mucking around with my Taylor DDAE. I borrowed the new Zoom Q3 camera to do this - camera quality is poor! But the mics seem OK.
My lounge room is not really that dark!

At The Auction - original

Here's one in the genre: melancholy country song.

Here's where it originates from:

My wife rents some space in an 'antique mall' (anything older than 1970, basically). To find items for it, we go to 'estate auctions'.
The typical situation is that (those who are now called grandma and grandpa) cannot live on the farm that they inherited from their folks, who in turn inherited it from their folks. Usually one of grandma/grandpa dies and the other moves to a small place in town, often an old folk's home.
And the grandkids (adults who work and live in the big city) cannot move to the farm. So they hold an auction where everything sells, and I mean everything.

While attending these, I noticed that the personal items were being sold, and it occurred to me there was a country song in there somewhere.

Anyway, here it is:

Biab - drums pad & bass, Me - vox acoustic w/vst's
Any tips on using de-essing or controlling them? My attempts distort the vox more than offer the help I surely need...of course, goes without saying I need more help than just that{lol}

Attachment 8574 (http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=8574)

We are drowning in the blood from a world that's gone astray
Our son's and daughters we send off too young for judgement day

Religious war's bred from belief politics all based on lies
Cold hearted greed pure wanton need with peace used as a guise

How can it be would you explain why do they have to die
Where is the compassion can't you hear the mothers cry

I hear them crying
I have seen them die
I don't have answers
Only questions why

What justifies the lives we lose sacrifice does not sit well
How is peace obtainable sending kids to the gates of hell

Enough's enough it's time for change there must be a better way
We can not stay upon this path that leads us to decay

Listen in the darkness for in it the answers fly
This death for peace is senseless can't you hear the mothers cry

I was fooling around with this. Drums I looped, guitar 1 track and vocal 1 track. It has a lot of double stops in it so it was great to work on for me. Kind of fun. Kind of an oldie.
A Perry Como Cover tune 1957

a great ole blues , tried to mimic some of the vocal licks, thats a nice effective device to use while the story get laid down, you just have to be carefull .Also you don't have to play them note for note just outline the "shape" of it . It takes discipline not to play right over the story line but it is very important not to. I mean in the blues the story is the most important part. Whats really hard is when the words stop your solo has to evoke the feeling of the story . I wish I could do that better . The blues is a feeling more than an the notes played. JB

Have not had much time for recording but thought I would get this one in. Mic for vocals was bad pick.
Guitar picking, drums, piano. John,Jim,Smort and I did this a couple years back, Wanted to give it a shot. Truly an exercise in mixing and recording. Too late to fool with it tonight.

Oldie cover little bluegrass blues picking.
SoundClick artist: Edward Zielinski -EZme Band - Acoustic Folk Guitar (http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8321579)

Hope you like it. Key of C

Here's the sequell as promised (although I shouldn't call it a sequell as it's not a video) just a quartet backing with me out front. I tried to do a a cool harmony on the bridge first time around in the spirit of George Shearing who was a master at five part close harmony. I only did 2 guitar tracks but with the chord melody and the single line harmony it surprised me how it sounded. You never stop learning stuff in this music thing. In the solo I tried to use alot of chromatic devices in the lines and am still learning about these effects. They tend to sound gypsyish if you know what I mean. I'm not that good at it but it sure is fun when you hit something once in a while. It's all about discovery, don't be afraid to venture out of the patterns that we so strongly kling to( german spelling) LOL. JB
