New to this group, but old to guitars and posts! ha ha

I spend most of my free time either working on my live.space site, or answering questions asked about others Alvarez, Alvarez Yairi, K. Yairi or Sadao Yairi models.

My Yairi Guitars - Windows Live (http://yairiguitars.spaces.live.com/)

Also started a Yahoo group in June of 2009 to hopefully help the past members of the Alvarez board, since it took a header sometime in March of this year.

This is a lesson for beginners and everyone -can and should-
try to play this piece, it doesn’t matter if you are classical guitar player, electric guitar player, acoustic steel string pick player, or nylon string player, this piece is for all!

Here is an example of how to apply the Paco de Lucia’s
technique to other musical styles, like this song by Paul Anka
that Elvis make so famous.

Although some times people attribute this kind of rumba arrangements to “Gipsy Kings” (1987),actually it was 18 years before them that Paco de Lucia innovated with the idea of playing Cuban, South American & popular songs of any country, into rumba flamenca on his 1969 LP entitled:
Paco de Lucia en Hispanoamérica.

“My Way” (E major)

Chords & melody lesson

Learn tips about strings
How do you like to use strings, symmetrical, or asymmetrical?

Do you know why for around 100 years almost everyone went the other way?(namely the 6th string in the 6th peg, and the 4th
string strung on the 4th peg)

Have you tried the 6th string in the 4th peg, and the 4th
string strung on the 6th peg?
check this…

I used to play bass years ago so I have experience and I know how to tune. But I just started learning guitar a few weeks ago. I was watching a dvd lesson and he hits his low E string during the tuning portion. I match it up, then proceed to tune my guitar myself. Also, I follow him string for string and get it right on the money.

But when I play for example a G chord along with him, it sounds off. I check my tuning, I'm still good. But when I play along with him, it still sounds off. Could it be that my frets are not even? Do they need shaved down to be equal to each other. This is all I can come up with.

Free software - Volunteer testers needed

Hi GFB'ers,

I've developed some guitar software (http://www.splashplay.co.uk), which shows chords synchronised to YouTube videos. It's aimed at beginner guitarists, to help visualise chords and when to play them whilst watching a video of the original artist, and also has a metronome and tuner.

This is a great forum and i'm hoping to establish a user base to help me develop the idea :smilinguitar: I'd like to see how the software behaves on different computers (Windows only for the moment), before i start to add many more songs.

I've created a free account for anyone who'd like to have a play:

User name: *BeginnerGuitar*
Password: *R53a9wTzRDr43b6*

You can download the software from here (http://www.splashplay.co.uk/beta-release/SplashPlay_(Beta)_v1.0.0.exe) and there are videos here (http://splashplay.co.uk/youtube-guitar-videos.html), so you can view the software before choosing to download.

I'm looking for any kind of feedback (http://splashplay.co.uk/feedback/), good or bad, and whether the chords are synchronised to the videos or not. Any input would be very helpful, so i can integrate features you'd like to see and fix issues that you may encounter.

I'm also developing some exciting hardware (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRZo78g0BOM), where you can wrap a light panel around your guitar to show you chords.

The software is FREE and there's no obligation :)

Thanks in advance, i sincerely look forward to your help.

Regards

Hi, I've been playing acoustic guitar for 2 years. I've taken 2 beginner's classes in school, but still can't seem to get beyond the beginner stage. I mostly want to be able to play praise and worship music, although I'm open to trying other things as well. At this point I know a few songs well enough to sing along with them, but I don't know enough chords to learn many other songs. I especially have difficulty with barre chords, which I have yet to be able to play.

Recommendations for a beginners metal guitar

I've wanted to learn for ages and have finally decided to bite the bullet and get one.

I have a budget of ~£350 plus £50-70 for an amp and other bits. Ideally I'd like something that looks metal (X shape would be great, but I like Vs as well), is comfortable to play sitting down (not sure how good Vs would be for this) and is good to learn on. A whammy bar would be good (I've noticed a few of the cheaper metal axes don't have them until you start to move up the price range which is a shame).

Favourite bands cover most of the heavy metal sub-genres and include Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Venom, Cradle Of Filth, Emperor, Mayhem, Ackercocke and Cannibal Corpse. Though I do have a slight leaning towards black & death metal.

Any recommendations? I work in London, so have easy access to the music shops there, but really don't know where to start or what to look for.

Cheers,
Phil.

Any singing nuns out there should probably not watch - it could damage your self-esteem.

Hi ive just started to learn the guitar.I picked up a second hand jackson ps2 from a freind cheap to learn with.Ive had it checked by local shop who have adjusted the intonation and other bits.

Now the problem im haveing is i find it so hard to play it has a floyd rose which i find is a real pain also the neck feels really thick and i tend to struggle going up and down it,I have to tilt it quite a way up to be fluent. Its getting to the point were i dont really want to play it.

Ive been looking at a fender squire maybee a tele as a replacement.I manly want to learn to play blues,Albert collins,John lee hooker,Srv.Would a squire be ok for this style of music.

thanks in advance
