correction?

Hi Tekker, it's me again

I think I have a correction for one of your lessons... Not a big one, though... In lesson about using Kristal you say:

Quote:
Now click on the menu that says Audio Setup and change the Pre-Load Amount to "No Preload". If you leave it at the default 2 seconds, then you will have 2 seconds of latency, which you definitely do not want.
This option is not about latency... It's about what portion of track would be pre-loaded from hard disc... Here is what they say in help file:

Quote:
'Pre-Load Amount' (ASIO and MME)

The 'Pre-Load Amount' setting determines how much audio material should be read at once from the hard disk.

For example, a Pre-Load of 2 seconds means that KRISTAL Waver tracks are 'cached' 2 seconds in advance. (Similarly, changes made to clip volume/fades will be audible after 2 seconds, plus the current output latency.)

'No Pre-Load' means the mixer reads audio data directly from hard disk. This option should not be used in conjunction with small block sizes - take note, ASIO users!
As you see, they even suggest to ASIO users not to use "No Pre-Load"...

I hope I'm right about this one...

All best

You probably are.

I wrote this Kristal tutorial a while back on another forum and I seem to recall having latency problems with the 2 second pre-load and then the latency was gone after selecting no pre-load. I can't reproduce it now though, so who knows what happened.... It could have even been one of those late night sessions and my mind was playing tricks on me or something. LOL

That part has now been removed, so it should stay at the 2 second default setting now.

'Cause I don't wanna read the book, I'll watch the movie.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
