  ref: great gift from heaven

Such a lovely piece and beautifully played Kirk. Reminds me of a tv series a while ago here in the UK, Billy Connolly touring the British Isles, often while being filmed driving through various locations some very similiar style tunes as "great gift from heaven" would have the viewers mind (mine anyway) totally carried up into the euphoria of the music. For me Great gift of heaven is one of those guitar pieces that awakens your very Being. I believe music can be a very powerful medicine, Great gift from heaven certainly has my mind at peace.
My mind is made up, this will be my lesson. I hope to master what is not only a really beautiful demonstration of guitar, but what I believe to be spiritualy enhancing.

As far as I can remember the music for that series was composed by Ralph McTell (Streets of London).

Ah yes, now I remember Ralph Mctell's name on the titles. One of my first ever tunes on guitar was streets of London.

Thanks, jon. Yes, uplifting, isn't it? That sense of 'awakening the Being' I think comes from the structure of the piece ... It's a classic I-IV-V (with a vi thrown in) progression, which is as basic as it gets. It's the primal set of chords ... and that bass line toward the end really hammers that vibe home. I never tire of playing it ... (I think Clancy has heard it enough, though).

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
