  Google Video

Just wondering if Kirk actually made a lesson for the
piece he's playing in the video on video.google.com.
I have no idea what it is, but it sounds great and I'd
really love to learn it.

Here's the video:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...e &pr=goog-sl

By the way, that video is how I found out about this
site.

Looked through all the lessons, but couldn't find it. Don't
know if I missed it or not.

(Wasn't sure where to post this question. Apologize if it
would have been better to post it somewhere else)

Ethic,
The video is Kirk's version of the Harold Arlen standard 'Stormy Weather' - as in "Don't know why, there's no sun up in the sky" - which I believe he originally posted on his PlaneTalkers forum. He hasn't done this as a lesson yet but I'm sure if you offer him enough money.....Just kidding. I agree that it would make a good lesson.

Actualy si16 is right. If you offered him enough money. It is a paid lesson. Under 10 bucks and you get the tab and video for the entire tune.

Hi ethic. I only found the video myself just the other day. I loaded it up when Google first announced their video storage program, as a test.

It was a downloadable $10 lesson that I offered over at the PlaneTalkers' forum, it's still there as a zip file ... it's 11Mb, the full tune as per the video, with tab and midi and GP file. Let me know if you're interested ... I'll post the "Buy now" link. I don't mind dropping the price to $5.

We're trying to come up with a way of offering these larger, more complete, lessons ... maybe a separate forum with a small monthly subscription fee or something, where you can download them. We can't really let them go for free as they use up too much bandwidth ... this site is going through well over 1.5 Gigabytes per day now (!!!) and the current lessons are less than 1 MB, so you can see our problem. With 50 or so new members per day joining, we'll be going through more and more ...

I would be happy to pay a subcription fee for your lessons Kirk, I think it would be money well spent! (I paid $30 for a video and $39 on a site that just didn't teach me a thing...) You have taught me heaps allready, I am much obliged.

Update on this lesson:

I'll just hang off posting the 'Buy' button for this until I hear back form APRA, Australia's copyright protection / performing rights organization. It's one thing offering free lessons of other people's material, but I need to know I'm being perfectly legal about things if I'm charging money. I wrote them tonight ... hopefully I'll hear back soon ...

Awesome, keep us updated. This video is how i found the site as well, and I'd love to take a look at the lesson.
If you don't want to deal with the copyright laws, you COULD just post the lesson for free Just kidding.

Well, since video.google.com is already hosting the video, maybe Kirk can just post the instructional part of the lesson on the forums and link to the google video for reference Either way, looks like a fun song to play regardless whether it's free or bought. BTW the google video is how I found out about this site too.

About the fee based subscription thing, I would also be interested in subscribing to more frequent/advanced/whatever seperate lessons.

Sounds like a good idea for a poll (if there isnt one already)

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
