You must have read my mind. This was exactly what I wanted. To me this is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
Many Thanks,

Kirk i really enjoy this site i hope it stays here forever. But i my opinion the lessons are great, being able to see the video and get sheet music to learn to play it( one string at a time) I have only been play for 1 year. whoever the printed comments sound like thay are for players that have many years of training. what i am talking about is the terminoligy, after the 1st paragraph it is all greek and i can't read greek. if the terminology was more on the begginer level it would be easyer to understand what you are trying to teach. i am just speaking for me and maybe i have to start at a earlyer point in your lessons. if this is so where would you suggest i start, i know nothing about musice thery. notation is easyer for me to play than tabs but thery is another thing. thanks again for all your help. if you change nothing i still enjoy it this is just a comment. P.S. i am thinking about buying you book but a am afaid it will be to complicated for me to understand( i am 65 years old). i read your lesson on the appartment house display and i don't have clue what you are trying to covey. i wonder if i am the only one with this problem. thanks again

Kirk, what a great arrangement. I've almost got it down, but I doubt I'll ever play it as well as you. Thanks so much for all your lessons.

Dave

Hi Douglas.

I often mention in these lessons that the theory stuff I write about is just for those who are interested. You don't need to know any of it, but if and when you become interested in how it all works, it's there.

The most difficult thing about music is explaining how it works!

If you've only been playing for a year, I think PlaneTalk will be a little too advanced for you, Douglas. It was designed fo those who have mastered all the basics and are now wanting to know how to make use of the whole fretboard, how to improvise, how to invent guitar parts on the fly. If you feel you're at that stage, then it's a good read, otherwise, hang out here and study all the stuff here.

Thats what I love about this site, you only push the product to those who would truely benifit from it.

Hey Kirk,
Thanks for this great arrangement. My mom asked me if I'd learn this song for her, and this arrangement is great! Many thanks, and you probably know this, but your work and your teachings resonate beyond just the people that hang out here.

I'm also the author of PlaneTalk - The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book. The lesson that this book, slide-rule and DVD teach is the most powerful of all: the 'trick' to seeing the entire fretboard as friendly, familiar territory. If you're beyond the beginner stage -- you know your chords, scales, maybe even modes -- but you're still wondering how to turn it all into music, how to invent and improvise, how to access all the bits and pieces, then this is the book for you. You will also be able to join the private PlaneTalkers' Forum and discuss the simple visualization technique with me and many others. - Read more here .

Testimonials

Kirk - Been reading your book PlaneTalk, studying the forum threads, and playing guitar a lot better (and with understanding!) for it. I always knew I had at least some innate ability, but I only seemed to learn through brute memorization and repetition. And if I got lost during a solo...forget it! Now I'm finally developing a 'sense of direction', and can pretty much find my way out and back home again. Thanks very much.
